Check out Munchhausen by No Bra. Connect to their myspace page to hear this brilliant song. Susanne is genius, she affects the perfect annoying fag. The sound on the video is shit but it's pretty damn funny.

Here’s a plug for Richard Move’s The Show (Achilles Heels). Your’s truly did the sets. It’s a lot of fun, the lead dancer is amazing, and Deborah Harry is well, Deborah Harry.

The Kitchen
April 27-29 (Thu-Sat) and May 2-6 (Tue-Sat)

8pm, Tickets $20

Presented with Baryshnikov Dance Foundation and MoveOpolis!

In this New York-premiere, choreographer and director Richard Move brings to the stage a contemporary vision of the ancient Greek legend of Achilles. Move takes a wild spin on the story’s themes of war, love, glory, and fate, with a radical meld of dance forms, text, glamour, and reality television show antics.

Originally commissioned by Baryshnikov Dance Foundation for the White Oak Dance Project, The Show features Deborah Harry (Blondie), performing live songs as the Goddess Athena, and Rasta Thomas, most recently the lead in Broadway’s Movin’ Out, as Achilles, the role originally performed by Mikhail Baryshnikov.

The Show has an original score by Arto Lindsay, set design by visual artist Nicole Eisenman, lighting design by Les Dickert, and costumes by Pilar Limosner.

I would really like to hear this record, a 3 hour long tone poem about the soil and menstration and menstrating into the soil.

A.L. Steiner is my personal Lesbian Power Authority. I need to send a lil' shout out to my homie, she toils away in the basement of the mounds which has been transformed in to a strange and frightening laboratory. We hear "things" through the floor and this is what we have pieced together; she is practicing voodoo, Reikian therapy, also possibly physics experiments, hypnosis and reflexology on our cat. Yesterday she claimed that Cy (the cat) said "Go Out", this refers to going outside which is his main goal in life so that he can kill some birds and claim the neighborhood as his own. Whatever it is she is doing, it's helping him to "find his voice" and for this we thank her.

The Boyfriends are self described as being a "classically English, warmly emotional but noisy guitar group". Playlouder likens them to "sexually ambivalent East End ruffians, Artrocker.com dubbed them “a real fearsome looking crew who give the air of being happier on the terraces than singing tender love songs”, whatever that means. This group won my heart with their single No Tomorrow which Mr.Boadwee turned me on to in 2004. They have a new single just out (sold out) and are putting a CD out soon, so you'll be hearing more about them here when we get the CD. Listen to No Tomorrow on The Boyfriends MySpace page. I big time heart this song! check out the song The White Devil on their web site. Yes, they sound like the Smiths. They're opening for Morrissey on his european tour right now.

The weather was perfect today for the Norf*kneasters. There are tubes that we must insert ourself in, lips that we shall gently tuck under, barrels that need creaming... I've got my board picked out. It's big. It also comes with safty bars. Public Notice: We will be dismanteling waves at a Surf Spot® nearest you.

If you need me, I'll be in the basement practicing the
requisite moves, advice and tips welcome.

Get it while the link is hot. demos and live tracks from The Grates. They sound something like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs but loads better... Check out songs Sexy Motherfucker, and Accelerator. Sounds like good old garage punk to me, but if the raw quality turns you off, their album Gravity Won't Get You High is cleaned up and slicked down for your listening pleasure.

Pete Doherty has become a major disapointment. He was arrested AGAIN today. He walked out of court this afternoon where he recieved a sentence on his last drug related arrest and was picked up a few hours later trying to cop. At this point it is not entirely his fault, it's his manager and fellow band members, whoever is around him thats letting him continue being a fuck up. Why is Babyshambles even on tour right now? Shouldn't Pete be in rehab and not on the road? Why after so many arrests are the courts not ordering him into a full time rehab center? It's pure greed on the part of Babyshambles managment that they don't stop the show and get Pete some help.

This is how I am at the upstate managed care facility I report to once a week. Big round eye is anxious to behold the inmate's reliquaries, here I am inspecting inmate Ray Mack's drawings. Small eye's inward gaze keeps me real, as t'were.

Meanwhile back at the refinery: Assistants are tripping the light fantastic, expressing the gesture of a brush stroke thru the dance. Their youthful exuberance helps keep us going...

We missed having a Passover seder this year. I haven't always loved an Eisenman family seder, when I was a little kid we would go to my grandparents home in Brooklyn, my Grandfather was an orthodox rabbi and the seder was long and difficult to sit through, but when my dad took it over he added his political and psychoanalytical interpetations to the haggada, added poems and writings he'd find during the year and the conversation was always "lively" (re: noisy chatter and occational tirade) and interesting. My brother in LA has now taken over the seder and they do it outside, reclining on pillows and everyone drinking the four required cups of wine. I missed my family a lot this week, the food, the songs, so in honor Passover and a reminder of the ongoing struggle of people in bondage and all the forms that takes (I know the jokes are going to come fast and furious...) heres Nina Simone's I SHALL BE RELEASED

TREND ALERT! Finally: extreme mountain unicycling! It's a growing phenomenon according to the Calgary Mountain Clowns. In other unicycle news, Moritz VonHahn from Bottrop Germany has broken the unicycle Long jump World Record with a jump of 2,60m. We can't confirm if thats meters or miles but we're looking into it. And finally this startling revelation that various armies now have unicycle divisions.

Here: a portrait of my humunculi by Sue de Beer. This is what the thing said to me before it passed out, "If being a person consists of a stream of thought in the higher brain I am no longer a person, I am a clump of meat in a tee-shirt"

Fischli and Weiss, probe the universe of wormholes in their book of questions, Will Happiness Find Me?
My question; Do i have to endure another day of being probed by law-enforcment robots at the refinery?

Monday Morning Science Lesson

Soft Hearted Scientists are still filling my balloon, they are back in rotation at the refinery and I say, YES. Here's a gentle ditty of a song, a hot water bottle for the soul you can download and listen too. This is a really fine album.

Here's my salute in oil to MOUNTAIN MAN. I'm a bit too squiffy right now to go into our night last night, but fraternizing with MM is big joy. Thats all. Now, what to do about this headache?

Scanning the mounds week DAY 3

picking up where we left off

Heres a scan of our new Graham Coxon CD, Love Travels at Illegal Speeds. I like it a lot on the first listen. His last release, Happiness in Magazines was one of my favorite albums last year and this one sounds just as good, lots of poppy punk to break dishes to! The cd seems to pick up speed as it goes along but there are some slower songs that have his trademark jangly guitar. I think this is going to be an excelent CD, if you like Graham Coxon, its a must have. If you're new to Graham Coxon Heres a recomendation:
The Sky is too High
The Kiss Of Morning

Artbrut+Tequilla=refreshing The show was brilliant. When Eddie Argos asks "did you form a band"? we resolutely answered YES! Our band, Spazz Dancers on Parade or Spazz Dancerson Parade, did a cappella covers of Art Brut songs live, during the show. ArtBrut played everything from Bang bang Rock and Roll plus two new songs. One sounded catchy, something to do with teaching punk rock in school. I posted a link to eddie's side project in february, here it is again, Future and the Boy

We are interupting Scanning the Mounds Week to bring you this essential CD compilation, Modular presents Leave Them All Behind. GrandmasterBoftheBloodArm burned it for us months ago, luvs it so much I got a copy of my own. There are tracks by bands you proly know like The Killers, Block Party, Tom Vek, Firey Furnaces and stuff that'll proly be new to you like The Long Blondes who are an amazing (and shockingly) unsigned UK band, Panico, an electro punk outfit from Chili who's album, Subliminal Kill has been entertaining us at the refinery for weeks now (Transpiralo, the track on the Modular Presents CD is the best track from the Panico album). What makes this compilation great is the Modular DJ's remixes. One CD is original versions, the second CD is remixes, and they're all top drawer.

We have added a scanner to ABCN's office suite so expect the quality of blogging to shoot way the hell up as we celebrate Scanning The Mounds Week. Slothy and HFP allowed us this album of rugby songs, a merciless addition to the Brit theme bathroom.

The confectionary leviathan know as Mount Clown served the villagers of Clowington well last night. Where most humans would break into a cold sweat, Mrs Cub didn't even blink when I requested a mountain cake with a clown waterfall for my birthday.
