A: G-e-o-r-g-e-b-u-s-h.
What is: How do you spell Faker?
the White House’s claims about the notches on Bush’s literary bedpost are almost certainly false. Using lists provided by the White House, the 60 books the president is alleged to have read since January total tens of thousands of pages. (The Strangeer may be fairly short, but many of the titles on the list were lengthy treatises. Kai Bird’s American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer, for example, is almost 800 pages.) The boasts simply strain credulity More
Dear Mr.Bush,
You are obviously anti-intelectual and after being president for what seems like fucken forever it is apparent to everyone in America (and the world) that you are dim-witted. Why fight it? You were a C student (everyone knows grades get inflated at Yale) and we wonder if you even really know HOW to read. Thats why we're demanding that you take this third grade level reading test to prove to the world you are really are a reader.
Thanks,

Willkommen meine liebe. Our comely milkmaid Ms. Andry is back on the scene! DIY concentration Camp triangle tit printing took place on a easy breezy summer evening in Berlin at the exciting release of the asocial magazine otherwise known as RIDYKEULOUS, now a huge hit in the world's new art capitol. Thanks to the risk takers at Pro-QM the best book store in the universe and AK Burns for being me. No arrests were made...

Notice anything different about Mrs.Cub? She's a little more starey-out-the-windowy then usual... thats right my friends, for those who don't know, the Mrs. is preggos. My lil' lady-in-waiting is in the beginning of her second trimester, that means junior is bigger then a pickel, smaller then a coffee can. The due date is February 2nd, Groundhogs day which will make birthday party themes a no brainer. My birthday is March 29th so I grew up having Easter theme birthday parties. You're thinking, but aren't you Jewish Corny? Well yes, I am and it was a blow when I eventually found out that Easter is a Christian holiday celebrating the reserection of the supposed son of god and not a day we stop to look for colored eggs and think about the joys of fluffy bunnies. Passover also falls close to my Birthday but unlike Easter, we don't have a cute mascot for Passover and the local party store didn't sell Passover theme birthday party table settings for children. A matzoh man who hides colored matzoh balls all over the yard for the kids (wearing these fun 10 plague masks) to find would have been swell. But I digress.

How amazing to go to the NYT's homepage last night and find this Picasso painting on the frontpage. Picasso's dog Lump is on the bottom of the painting. I'm partial to making drawings/paintings of my pets Cy and Foghorn but somehow I'm doubting there will ever be a coffee table book like “Picasso and Lump: A Dachshund’s Odyssey” (Bulfinch Press) of my life with Cy and Foghorn.

ABCN's salute to an actress we don't really care that much about
Natalie Portman is not a bad actress per se, she's no Meryl Streep either, however we loved her in Hollywoods adaptation of Alan Moore's brilliant comic book V for Vendetta, a surprisingly good movie (rent it if you haven't seen it, it just came out on DVD).
Portman will be seen naked during torture scenes in Milos Forman's upcoming movie 'Goya's Ghosts', which focuses on the life of Francisco Goya, coming out in December.

Movies about artists are fascinating and often hilarious. Painting is always portrayed as ridiculously heroic/romantic. The reality of most artist's studio life would shock audiences into a deep sleep.

Three books we read in Maine

The Keep-
Best book I've read this summer. Weird, smart, funny, gothic and totally surprising.
The Ruins-
Worst book I've read this summer (I'm only posting about it to warn you not to waste your time and money). It's a simplistic brain suck, you get to the end and your like hold on now just a cotton pick'n second, nothing happened!
The Double-
Haven't finished it yet... it's an intriguing "what if" story of a guy who meets his double, but it's starting to drag...

Clarification: The gorgeous sun drenched studio pictured below belongs to master printer Lothar Osterberg, he lent me his press for a week. I was making monoprints and woodcuts on the Monster Masher®. My regular work space is in the arm of a giant Prima Ballerina rocking chair. Just so you know.

This has been my home away from home for the last week. The machine mercilessly smashes down the paint and beautiful(ish) events ensue, sometimes.

The Mrs. and myself are skipping back up to the Desert Island for 10 days of full family assult.

Wish us luck?

This just in from the Blood Arm

Apparently, BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe took his new copy of 'Suspicious Character' and put it in the microwave on high for about forty-five minutes. Upon removing the dripping vinyl, the popular radio host said, "this is the Hottest Record in the World."

"Do I have your attention" is a great blood arm song!

A word or two about The Cape or au Cod as Slothy puts it. It's where my brood has vacationed since I was a wee moppet. The Mrs. and I joined the rest of my clan there this weekend. The Cape is about 10,000 times more crowded then it used to be but still it is for me a deeply cool place to be. When asked recently what I would chose for my last meal, I said a Lobster at sunset on the Cape. Lastly, I like Pilgrims and the Cape is haunted by many of them. Shown here is a Pilgrim who must not of had enough cloth for all her pilgrim garments but typical of the early American spirit, she's just dealing with it. Inspiring? You said it.

More Pilgrim related stuff

Dear God,
You generally seem like a good person but I've got to tell you, this heat is really chafing my boils! I know you gave mankind air conditioners which are helping me to not dissolve into a lumpy puddle of flesh, and I don't mean to question your supreme greatness but don't the the air conditioners add more to global warming and what do I do about this vicious cycle?

Please advise,
Your Pal,
Corny
